Most of the nature trip sites in Davao Province are situated on Samal Island and the string of islands that litter Davao Gulf There we went snorkeling and diving as dive sites are pretty much abundant in the area. Also, white sand beaches that stretch far minus the overcrowding of other beaches can also be found here. The island is also famous for its variety of resorts. We recommend the Pearl Farm Beach Resort (tel. no. 02-211-9970) where the pearl farm of a rich Filipino family used to be situated. It has been converted into a world-class resort for ordinary and rich folks alike to enjoy.
LOCAL FINDS
There are several finds in Davao del Norte that is sure to lure one into a buying spree. In Tagum City, the Tagum Cultural Trade Center is located in the middle of the city where one can buy ornamental plants like orchids and palm plants. Local handicraft are also available at cheap prices (Php 20 for a bead necklace) in the area and some bead works made by indigenous people are sold in the city. On the other hand, shell products which come from the locals are available in Samal Island as well as different fruit preserves which come from plantations in the area.
FOOD
TRIP Food tripping in Davao del Norte is also not a problem for those who want gastronomic feasts like me. Restaurants along the Tagum Trade Center offer grilled squid, crabs, and other seafood which they cook on the street and serve hot on your table (costs Php 100 serving). Also try the various fruits that are available all year round or sometimes depending on the season). Try tasting some fruits sold in the area like mangosteen, durian, and pineapple.
